Restitution Law of 1 October 1947 on the Reparation of War Damages to Private
Property.
Summary
This law
provides for compensation payable by the state for war damages occurring after
27 August 1939 to both movable and immovable property, privately owned by
individuals or corporations. Applications for compensation had to be made by 10
February 1948 to the relevant Provincial Office of War Damages and appeals
against its decision could be brought within two months of notification to the
appropriate Commission of Appeals. A petition to annul the appellate decision
could be made to the Council of State.
