The Kassel State Museums include the collections of Schloß Wilhelmshöhe (Wilhelmshöhe Castle), the Hessisches Landesmuseum (Hessian State Museum), the Neue Galerie, the Orangerie and Schloß Friedrichstein (Friedrichstein Castle).
Research into Nazi-confiscated works of art in the museums' collection
The Kassel State Museums undertook research into their
collections to identify looted cultural property. They have identified one
painting by Willem van Aelst Blumenvase mit Taschenuhr , dated 1656, from an unknown source.
Research into cultural property missing from the museum
The Kassel State Museums have undertaken research into cultural property missing from their collections and have compiled a list of 126 works of art. A copy of the list is available from the Central Registry.
