National Archives of Hungary

Description
The National Archives are the largest Hungarian archives. Records on Nazi looting and records of government organs of the period 1867-1945 are located in Department II. Family Records and Collections are located in Department III.

The National Archives also contain substantial sources for Family History research. Information is available here.

The archives include:
1. Records of artworks collected by the Government Commission for the Registration and Safekeeping of Artworks Sequestrated from Jews (K-643-1944).
2. Record of losses collected by the Ministerial Commission for Artworks Taken from Public and Private Collections (XIX-I-12).
3. List of artworks taken from Hungary by the Germans and unreturned as of March 1948 (MS. Bogay).
4. Manuscript inventory of artworks taken by the Germans, written by the Hungarian Ministry of Finances for the Hungarian Commission for Restitution (MS.PM).
5. Inventories of the Hatvany collection, Herzog collection and other collections.
