The National Archives

Description
The National Archives have a complete online catalogue and an informative series of leaflets on its holdings. The Foreign Office (FO) division, for example, has records concerning the Control Commission for Germany which was responsible for the recovery and restitution of art found within the British zone of the Allied Occupation. 

The Central Registry has set out below a listing of all relevant files in the National Archives which have information relating to looting and restitution.  These fall under the following government departments or headings:
