Description
Nathan Halper (1907-1983) set up, in partnership with John Murray Cuddihy, the H.C. Gallery in 1956. Previously he had managed the Kootz Gallery, founded by Samuel Kootz from 1953-1954. The name of the gallery was changed to H.C.E. Gallery (1957-1967) in 1957. He also managed the Sun Gallery. Nathan Halper exhibited contemprary American artists. Sam Kootz also showed French contemporary art, Fritz Glarner, Picasso, Leger, Hans Hofmann, and American Abstract expressionists.

The records consist of correspondence (1952-1956) and gallery records (1952-1979). These comprise the records of the H.C. Gallery, H.C.E. Gallery, the Samuel Kootz Gallery and Sun Gallery.
