Klaus
Gunther Perls was the brother of Frank Perls. Their father was Hugo Perls, the
art dealer and scholar who worked in Berlin until 1940 when he emigrated to New
York to open a gallery (the Perls Gallery) specialising in twentieth-century
art. The Frank Perls Gallery had been established the previous year by his son
Frank (1910-1975). After Hugo's death Frank Perls continued his father's
business in New York.
