Press Release by the Kunstmuseum Bern:

The Board of Trustees of the Kunstmuseum Bern (KMB) has decided to retain the law firm CMS von Erlach Poncet AG in Zurich and its partner firms in Munich, Berlin, and Vienna to clarify the complex issues involving the Gurlitt estate. Dr Beat von Rechenberg will be responsible for the overall management of the case.

The attorneys will be viewing and assessing all the facts and the legal situation regarding the estate. It is expected that this task will exhaust the entire period of the allocated six months until the deadline. The relevant authorities in Munich and Berlin have been informed and contacts established. The goal of current investigation is to establish a solid basis for making a decision on whether the Kunstmuseum Bern will accept or waive the contents of the estate.
