31 March 2017: The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia rules against the German motion to dismiss the claim in the US courts for the Guelph Treasure

The U.S. District Court ruled on 31 March against the motion by the Federal Republic of Germany and the Prussian Cultural Property Foundation to dismiss the suit brought against them by the claimants in the Guelph Treasure case on several grounds including that they are entitled to sovereign immunity.

The Court ruled that the claims can proceed and can be considered a taking of property in violation of international law.
