Research into Nazi-confiscated cultural property in the archive's collection
Research undertaken in the early 1990s in connection with an investigation by the Claims Conference indicated that the archive does not hold any records showing the fate of looted cultural property.

Research into cultural property missing from the archive
In 1947 the Soviet Military Administration removed 709 books, including 104 incunabula, from the archive. The archive states that these are today located in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
