Archivo Centrale dello Stato (Central State Archives)
The Central State Archives keep records of historical interest produced since 1861 by the central government's departments. However, there are some exceptions: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has its own Historical Archives; in 1971 the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate were allowed to establish separate archives, and the Ministry of Defence holds some military archives in the Historical Offices of the General Staffs of Navy, Air Force, and Army. The Central State Archives also maintain records of some national public and private institutions, as well as the papers of several individuals and families. It has significant archival sources regarding Jewish persecution in Italy.
