Description
The
gallery, established by Hanns and Kate Schaeffer, specialised in Dutch and
Flemish Old Master paintings and drawings. The Berlin gallery was open from 1925
to 1939, while the New York gallery ran from 1936 to the 1990s. Records include
gallery correspondence, financial records (1932-1963), subject files
(1935-1953), printed material including newspaper cuttings, exhibition
announcements, and catalogues (1937-1957), some photographs of works, notes on
artists, and a guest book (1946-1954).
