Description
Valentiner edited Art in America (1913-1931), founded the Detroit Institute of Art and was its director from 1924 to 1946. He was also the director-consultant of the Los Angeles County Museum from 1946 to 1954, director of the Getty Museum in 1954, and North Carolina Museum of Art (1955-1958). The North Carolina archive consists of his papers.
