Description

Bankers, Patrons & Co The history of the Rothschilds in Austria goes back to the collaboration between Salomon Rothschild and Prince Metternich. The family played a significant role in the political and economic development of the country, founded important banking and industrial enterprises as well as charitable institutions. Their name became synonymous with unimaginable wealth - the symbol of a Jewish success story as well as a cliché of anti-Semitic propaganda. When the National Socialists came to power in 1938, the looting of the family's assets began, the restitution of which continues to this day. This richly illustrated volume exposes myths and prejudices and describes the impressive Rothschild legacy in Austria in many facets.

The book is the catalogue of the exhibition at the Jewish Museum Vienna which began on 12 December 2021 and runs until 5 June 2022. For full details see here.
